Mr. Wilson was born on May 27, 1952, in Belton, the son of Samuel Zachry Wilson and Betty Jo Heller Wilson. He was a gifted athlete and a proud Belton Tiger. During his senior year at Belton High School, he was recognized as Mr. BHS and distinguished himself across multiple sports. He was one of two football captains, earning All-District honors as a safety and leading his team as quarterback to the state semifinals during the 1969–1970 season. That same year, he was named to the Super Centex team as a safety. In baseball, he was a First Team All-District catcher, and in track he advanced to regional competition in the long jump.

Following high school, Bobby earned a football scholarship to Trinity University, where he initially played safety before transitioning to linebacker. He graduated with a degree in construction, laying the foundation for a long and respected career in the industry. He worked as a construction superintendent for Baird Williams Construction, Cloud Construction, CRW Construction, and Bucky Willson Construction, where he was known for his strong work ethic and leadership.

On August 3, 1974, he married Patricia Jean “Patty” Potts in Belton. Above all else, Bobby loved his family. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren and found his greatest joy in being present with them. An avid hunter and fisherman, he had a deep love for the outdoors and was happiest when surrounded by nature and family alike.

On his final day, Bobby passed peacefully at Scott & White Hospital, surrounded by family who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Zachry Wilson and Betty Jo Heller Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jean “Patty” Wilson; his children, Bill Wilson (and wife, Amy Whitmeyer) and Becky Mariante (and husband, Tony Mariante); his brother, Larry Wilson (and wife, Donna Wilson); and his grandchildren, Gianna Wilson, Billy Wilson, Anya Mariante, Hunter Mariante, and Emry Mariante.
