Mrs. Vasquez passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, at her home in Eddy surrounded by loved ones.
A rosary will be recited for Elsa Vasquez, 63, of Eddy, at 7:00 PM, Friday evening, January 2, 2026, at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday. January 3, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating.
Mrs. Vasquez was born in Durango, Mexico, April 6, 1962, the daughter of Guadalupe and Gudelia (Escobedo) Avitia. She moved to Pampa, TX in 1977 where she lived with the love of her life Andres. They then moved in 2002 to Eddy, TX. She always worked as a custodian for different school districts but mostly for Bruceville-Eddy School District. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
She loved her family more than anything . She found joy in cooking for her loved ones and she did it with all her heart. Her family's favorites were her chile rellenos and homemade tortillas. She also loved to shop. She had a passion for dancing and music. Elsa also loved to travel. The beach, Disneyland and Universal Studios were some of her favorite trips.
Survivors include her husband Andres Vasquez; two sons, Andres Vasquez Jr., and Oscar Avitia and his wife Esmerelda; three daughters, Maria Salazar and husband Jesus, Melissa Vasquez, and Vanessa Vasquez and her husband Cristoval Gutierrez; two brothers Cesar Avitia and wife Petra, and Victor Avitia and wife Connie, one sister Lupe Avitia and husband Juan Garcia; and eleven grandchildren.
