Grace "Cookie" Maria Flores Smith, 83, of Belton, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026.
Born on November 18, 1942, in Amarillo, Texas, Cookie lived a life defined by hard work, fierce devotion to her family, and a vibrant spirit that brought warmth, laughter, and music wherever she went.
Cookie dedicated her life to raising and supporting her children. Her strong work ethic carried her through a career spanning more than 40 years. She began working in Los Angeles, California, at Whitaker before settling in Belton, where she worked for Southwestern Bell and Child Protective Services (CPS). Known for her outgoing personality and quick smile, Cookie also spent many fond years pouring drinks, sharing stories, and connecting with community members at the local VFW. Outside of work, Cookie's greatest joy was her family, though her love for Mariachi music and Elvis Presley was a very close second. Whether playing her favorite records or enjoying time surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she filled her home with warmth and joy.
She is survived by her loving children: her son, Adrian Smith, and his wife, Cara, of Belton, TX; and her daughter, Eugina Smith, of San Antonio, TX. Cookie leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Shayla Smith of Belton, Kyla Kelley and her husband Chris of Belton, Isabella Pardo of San Antonio, and Eliana Cortez of San Antonio; as well as her beloved great-grandchildren: Makynzi Smith, Amilya Mitchell, Lola Long, and Brance Benolken.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Flores, and her brothers, Michael Duron and Mario Duron.
