On Monday, December 23rd, 2024, Hermes Benito Mejia Zavala passed in his bed, on his 5-acre ranch in Eddy, Texas. He passed in the presence of his loving family, friends and God.
Hermes was born on December 31st, 1962, in Corinto, Nicaragua.
As a teenager, Hermes’ Aunt, Hope (Esperanza Madrano), helped my father flee to the United States because of the civil wars in Nicaragua. Hermes would later receive amnesty from Ronald Reagan, an honor he was very proud of. Later, Hermes was naturalized as a proud, taxpaying, United States Citizen, also something he was very proud of.
In United States, Hermes married DeJon Campanella and fathered 5 children. Hermes Anthony Mejia, age 40, Christopher Jonathan Mejia, age 38, Joshua Alexander Mejia, age 37, Richard Benito Mejia, age 37, and Sierra Nicole Mejia, age 26.
Hermes worked hard all his life, sometimes working 2 to 3 jobs to provide for his family here in the United States and provide help for his siblings that he was separated from in Nicaragua. After many years of hard work, Hermes was appointed as Operations Manager for the Solano Mall in Fairfield, California where he would work for more than 30 years.
Hermes finally retired on his Ranch in Eddy, Texas; a dream he finally realized through his hard work and God’s many blessings. Hermes’ final days were spent with his family, friends, chickens, and God. Before he went with Jesus, Hermes spent most his waking moments praising God and listening to His Word.
