Ingrid Emilie Bush

Ingrid Emilie (Sulzbach) Bush was born November 23, 1935 to Anna Katharina (Heimbucher) Sulzbach and Johann Friedrich Sulzbach in Amorbach, Bavaria, Germany. She passed away August 5, 2026 at her home in Belton, Texas. Being born in Germany she experienced struggles not uncommon to many family and friends in the WW2/post war era. She learned to be resilient, resourceful, and cherished her family above all. Those lessons carried her through her entire life. She had a trademark of raising her right arm and saying, “I can do it.”

In November of 1965, Ingrid flew to the US and married the love of her life Roland Bush (known to those in Germany as Ronny). Side note: her first meal in the US was squirrel and dumplings which she remembered as tasting good. Her son, Frederick (Rick) Bush, was born October 20, 1966. Two years later, Roland was stationed in Germany. This allowed Ingrid to return to her homeland for 8 years. Ingrid spent her life with her heart in two continents. She dearly loved her family and friends in Germany. In true German fashion, Ingrid loved traveling and flowers. She was a thinker and problem solver who didn’t shy away from challenges. She also loved her family and friends in the US. Her son, Rick, and his wife Michelle and their 3 kids: Michael, Andrew, and Daniel were always a topic of discussion. She also had the privilege to be a step parent to Don; granddaughter- Ellen, Debbie, and James.

Ingrid and Roland settled down and built a beautiful home looking out on Belton Lake in Central Texas. The home they made for their family was filled with pride and love. Ingrid adored the home and filled it with memorabilia from the family travels across the Army and the world. She could tell you a story about any item and always included a history and a family lesson that ended with all her blessings in life.

Ingrid knew how to make the most out of every situation. She made friends with Roland’s 11 other brothers and sisters. She traveled where Roland was stationed: Georgia, Germany, Pennsylvania, and Texas. She had a creative mind, did beautiful needlepoint, and enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays. She joined a culinary group and later joined the Texas Delta Beta Sorority of which she was a long time member of 52 years. She had a way of helping people look ahead to brighter days and staying positive.

Ingrid also taught those around here how to endure hardship. She showed that she could live by trusting in the Lord. On June 7, 2014, her husband, Roland passed away. Later Rick, her son passed away on October 8, 2023, followed by the passing of her brother Gerd on April 21, 2024. There are also many others that have gone before her that she loved along the way. With a determined spirit, she showed that there is a reason for living and that God had her on Earth for a reason. She walked hand in hand with grief, love and hope. Ingrid trusted in the Lord and knew that when she died she would be with her loved ones in heaven.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Temple. Melanie, you truly are an angel. All those who loved and cared for her at Tex Med, our family is better with you in it. There are countless people who have been friends and loved Ingrid much of her life. She was the most wonderful mother-in-law and always showed her unmistakable love and affection to me and our family. Our hearts are breaking and rejoicing at the same time. I’m certain she is having the best family reunion!

In one of her last conversations she said, “Not everyone gets to live to be 90. I have had a good long life. Tell everyone hi, and let them know that I love them.”

There will be a Celebration of Life service in memory of Ingrid August 15, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm. 2016 Marlandwood Rd, Temple, TX.
