Graveside services for James Edward Bryant, 87, of Waco, will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Bryant died Thursday, August 20, 2026, in a Bellmead Nursing Home.
Mr. Bryant was born October 20, 1938, in Anthony, Texas, the son of Caleb Edward Bryant and Violet McClosky Bryant. He served in the United States Army before going to work for BNSF Railroad as a railroad clerk. After 32 years of work he retired in 2000. Later that year he and his wife, Emily, moved to Bell County. He was of Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2015.
Survivors include daughters Sharyn Ficyk and husband Chip, Traci Clemente and husband Sam, and Mona Breitbarth and husband Fred; son Adam Whitfield and wife Tammy; brother, Charles Eugene Bryant and wife Pat; sisters Phyllis Eaves and husband Gene and Jo Anne Bell; eleven grandchildren, Madison, Riley, Kerigan, Julie, Kathleen, Andrew, Tiffany, Courtney, Amanda, Brittany and John; 15 great-grandchildren; a niece Stephanie, and 4 nephews, Nathan, Phillip, Paul, and James.
