Mary Jo Harris of Belton, Texas, passed away peacefully at Our Hospice House in Belton on May 18, 2025, at the age of 85.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the service. Mary Jo will be laid to rest at Rogers Cemetery in Rogers, Texas.

Mary Jo was born on December 12, 1939, in Palestine, Texas, to William Raford Reynolds and Winnie Louise Womack. On December 14, 1987, she married Jesse Hugh Harris Jr. in Midland, Texas. They shared many loving years together until his passing in 2014. Mary Jo lived quietly and peacefully, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, admiring flowers, and watching birds—always taking time to appreciate the beauty in the world around her.

Mary Jo was a beloved mother and grandmother who is lovingly remembered by her son, Eddie Bassett of Houston, and her daughter, Karen Solomon and husband Michael of Big Spring, daughter in law Kim Bassett of Waco, TX. She was a proud grandmother to Brandy Bazmore and husband Mark, Justin Bassett and wife Sarah, Kristi Pickens and husband Charlie, Danielle Gilbert and husband Jeff, Meagan Young and husband Cole, Joshua Bassett and wife Amanda, Kelli Polimine and husband Mark, and Kaitlyn Bassett. She was also blessed with twelve great-grandchildren: Sean, Nathan, and Lauren Bazmore; Case Young; Charlie, Parker, and Brooks Pickens; Saylor Gilbert; Holden, Hollis, and Lennon Bassett; and Gianna Polimine.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Jesse, and her son Bobby Bassett.

Mary Jo’s quiet presence and deep love for her family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
