Monica Starr Dunn, daughter of Randall and Sandra (Williams) Dunn, drew her first breath November 30th, 1972 and her final December 11, 2025. She is preceded in death by her son, Justin Fuschino, her beloved mother and father, and her nephew, Wesley Arthaud. Monica, known as “Monkey” by those who loved her most will be remembered most of all for her loving heart and generosity. She never gave up a fight for something she believed in.
In her younger years, Monica attended school in Killeen, Texas. She held a stable career in the automobile insurance industry for over a decade, but her most favorite job was being a mother. Though some of her life was plagued with addiction, Monica never gave up, and was able to end her life in sobriety, for which we are eternally proud of her.
She overcame and defeated a heinous battle with addiction, and just as we got her back, she discovered a new battle was afoot: cancer. A mass in her lung went untreated for several years. Upon a recent trip to the hospital, she discovered that the cancer had spread throughout her body, which is ultimately what took her life.
She is survived on this earth by her two sons, Dustin and Dylan Fuschino; her two sisters, Rhonda Ellis and Kayla Arthaud; her brother, Gary Dunn. Though we know Monica was distraught to leave her two boys, we are comforted knowing she can continue motherhood in heaven with her first son, Justin.
As we say our final goodbyes to Monica, we are at peace knowing she is with our Lord and Savior, free of the pain that haunted the final years of her life, and is waiting for us to join her when we are called home.
As we bury Monica, we remember this verse that we feel represents her and her life: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
