Ophelia Hillhouse

Ophelia Hillhouse, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Temple, Texas.

Born on October 24, 1943, in Kingstree, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Rainey and J.P. Hickman. She was also lovingly guided through life by her stepfather, Wesley Milligan, who was a significant and cherished father figure.

Ophelia was blessed with 66 years of marriage to the love of her life, Alfred Earl Hillhouse.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters; Lorraine, Dorothy, Frances, and Elaine; her brothers Presley and David; and many other dear family members who welcomed her into her eternal home.

She leaves behind a deeply loved family, including her husband Alfred of Morgan’s Point, Texas; and her four children: Brenda (David) Rascoe of Morgan’s Point, Texas; James (Phyllis) Hillhouse of Luling, Texas; Robert Hillhouse of Wilburn, Arkansas; and Billy Hillhouse of Temple, Texas. Ophelia was the proud grandmother of fourteen grandchildren, great-grandmother to twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandmother to thirteen. Each one brought immense joy, pride, and love into her life.

Ophelia will forever be remembered for her sweet, fun-loving spirit, her generous heart, her compassion for all living things, and especially for her unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy continues on in the many generations who loved her dearly.

Ophelia’s remains will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
