Randy Broussard

December 7, 1948 — August 23, 2025

Randy Michael Broussard was born December 7th, 1948 in New Iberia, Louisiana and died peacefully August 23rd, 2025 in Belton, Texas. Randy, age 76, is survived by his beloved husband Raymond Arsenault of Belton, Texas, and siblings Donna Freyou and Ricky Broussard, both of New Iberia, Louisiana. Randy was a registered nurse, with a Masters of Nursing. He worked at King’s Daughters Hospital in Temple, Texas before finishing his career in nursing at the Temple VA hospital from which he retired in 2014. That same year, Randy and Ray traveled to Hawaii where they were married on the beach February 5th in a lovely and joyous ceremony.

Randy was a strong Bell County Democrat, talented quilter, and a man with a heart of gold whose smile brightened the day of all he met. We say farewell with heavy hearts. Randy is no longer in any pain and his brave fight to be cancer-free is now over. He beat the big C several times over the years, with courage and grace. Randy, you are one of our heroes! You helped organize the 2018 PRIDE fest in Carl Levin Park in Harker Heights, TX. You were ever generous with your time and money and always happy to help. You encouraged so many of us to write letters to the editor and submitted countless letters of your own that were frequently published in the Killeen Daily Herald and Temple Telegram.

And when the pandemic hit in 2020 you became a champion! At a time when there were no medical masks to be found, you were one of a few mask makers who dropped everything, stopped sewing quilts, and tirelessly designed and sewed face masks for many months. Hundreds of your beautiful and protective masks were given to doctors, nurses, first responders, nursing home attendants, postal workers and those working in grocery stores and pharmacies. You helped protect those who needed to be on duty even as the rest of us were locked down and staying safe at home. We will forever be grateful to you!

Randy, you are loved by many and you will be missed by all who had the honor and joy of knowing you. Rest in peace, dear friend.

In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Randy’s life may be made to Bell County Animal Control which runs the Bell County Animal Shelter located at 2509 S Loop121, Belton, TX 76513.
