Robert Lynn Wilbanks, 86, passed away peacefully at home on June 22, 2025, in Georgetown, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and a passion for life that touched all who knew him.
A funeral service honoring Robert’s life will be held on July 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Dossman Funeral Home, 2525 N Main St, Belton, TX 76513. His life will be celebrated with a reception at 1:00 PM at The Gin at Nolan Creek, 219 S East St, Belton, TX 76513.
Born on May 13, 1939, in Belton, Texas, Robert spent more than 30 years writing and self-publishing the National Ski Club Newsletter, where his talents as both a writer and photographer flourished. His work took him on adventures around the world, allowing him to share his love for travel, skiing, and photography with a wide audience.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Robert was known for his adventurous spirit, generous heart, and quick wit. He was an avid snow skier, a gifted photographer, and a devoted traveler—pursuits that enriched not only his own life but also those of his family and friends.
Robert leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his son, Robert Wilbanks, Jr., and wife Denise; his daughter, Julie Wilbanks; his wife of eight years, Frances Wolf, his sister-in-law, Sue Wilbanks; and his grandchildren, Darren Wilbanks, Ryan Wilbanks, and Danielle Perez. He is also remembered by his niece, Mandy Duncan, and husband Matthew, and their children, Caroline Duncan and Griffin Duncan.
He now joins his beloved parents, Delay (Cotton) Wilbanks and Wilma Hander-Wilbanks, along with his brothers, William Wilbanks and James Wilbanks, and his stepfather, Nelson Hander.
Robert Lynn Wilbanks will be remembered fondly for his deep love of family, his friendships, and his lasting contributions to the communities he touched through his writing and personal connections. His spirit lives on in the countless memories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
