Stephen Scott Morris

Stephen Scott Morris, 77, of Temple, died Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in a Belton Hospice.  Private family services will be planned.  

Mr. Morris was born July 27, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of William Hoyt Morris and Margaret Mary (Burkhart) Morris. He was an attorney in both Bell and Harris Counties. He worked as a federal and state prosecutor, and served as the U. S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas. He also was in private practice as a defense attorney in Harris County. He was a member of the Texas Bar Association. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. Also he was a member of the Osage Indian Tribe.

 He married Peggy Boomershine May 27, 2006, in Rogers. 

He was preceded in death by his step-son, Todd Wayne Seery.

 Survivors include his wife, Peggy Morris, step-son David Bickel and wife Jenny; one sister Marlon Morris; one grandson Zakary Bickel and great-grandson Coast Paul Bickel. Memorials may be made to Our Hospice House in Belton at https://ourhospicehouse.org/donate/
