Steven Wade Landes, 63, left this world peacefully on November 5, 2025, surrounded by loving family at a Dallas Transplant Hospital. Upon entering heaven, no doubt he heard the words we all long to hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
A funeral service to celebrate Steve will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church located at 30650 SH 95 Bartlett, TX 76511. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a graveside service to follow.
Steve was born on April18, 1962, in Farmington, New Mexico, the son of Odis Neal “Bob” Landes and Halley Merle “Pete” Cowan. During his young life, the family moved multiple times before settling in Troy, Texas, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for his family. After graduating from Troy High School, he went on to pursue a degree from Texas A&M University in Metallurgy as a Welding Engineer, class of ’90, to which he dedicated himself for 30 years and forged many friendships that spanned beyond his career.
Not only was Steve a loving husband to Joan, but he was also a pillar of strength and support to his family. Together, they loved and had great fun through the years with their 18 nieces and nephews, as well as the 40 (!!) great nieces and nephews. He dearly cherished family gatherings, and his presence at holidays and celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around him. He was a devoted uncle, always there to offer guidance, love and a hearty laugh.
Steve had many passions in life, including traveling, hunting, and woodworking, which he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. He was best known for his love of Jesus and delighted in sharing this love with everyone. He found great pleasure in working with the youth at church, as well as studying and discussing the bible with his beloved fellows, who together for the past six years have continued a weekly bible study.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Odis Landes and brother Michael Joe Landes. He is survived by his loving wife Joan Landes, mother Halley Jones, and brother Jerry Landes and wife Becky, as well as many in-laws, outlaws, nieces, nephews, and precious friends who will miss him dearly.
Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate the well-loved and well-lived life of a dedicated, loving man of God.
Steveo, your memory will live on in our hearts forever, rest easy Love of my life.
