Tammi Lea Mitchum, 55, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 22, 2026.

Tammi loved Jesus with her whole heart. She loved studying the Word, tracing connections through Scripture, and committing verses to memory. The Bible was not just something she read but something she treasured, learned, and lived. The fruit of her life was evident to all who knew her. She served quietly, faithfully, and consistently. Tammi was a servant in every sense of the word. She put herself last again and again for the good of others. We trust with confidence that she heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

She was a devoted and present wife to Ronald Ray Mitchum. Loyal to her core, she loved nothing more than being with all her “chicks.” Her family was her greatest treasure, and she poured herself into them without hesitation every day she lived.

She was a proud mother to her daughter, Marlee Jackson and her husband Parker, and to her son, Macon Mitchum and his wife Lauren. But her most treasured title in recent years was Mimi. Tammi was a professional grandma. Her world revolved around her grandchildren: Lindlee, Samford, Mavree, Maxwell, Adrian, Zephaniah, and Nehemiah. Her grandchildren never once questioned whether Mimi would show up. She was there every single time. Recently, when asked what they loved most about her, one of them said, “Because she never says no.” And it was true. She took them to every park in Bell County, fed every duck, and found every ice cream shop worth visiting. Summers were spent at libraries and water parks, and she would not have had it any other way.

Tammi was the life of the party. Adventurous and full of joy, she rarely said no to an opportunity for fun as long as she had a bottled Dr Pepper in hand. She was a dreamer who loved planning and starting new hobbies. Her most recent passion was labelling everything she could find. She filled rooms with laughter, often at her own expense, and made people feel seen and welcome wherever she went. No one ever felt less-than in her presence.

For over 30 years, she was a faithful member of First Baptist Belton. She loved serving her community any chance she got. Whether helping with childcare, serving the homeless, or most recently and passionately volunteering at Blessings Boutique in Belton, she gave her time generously and joyfully. Serving was not something she did occasionally. It was who she was.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Edward Bigham Jr. and Sandra Bigham, and her beloved dogs, Lulu, Maddie, Lola, Bandit, Gabby, and Camo.

She leaves behind her husband, Ronald Ray Mitchum; her daughter, Marlee Jackson and husband Parker; her son, Macon Mitchum and wife Lauren; her cherished grandchildren, Lindlee, Samford, Maxwell, Mavree, Adrian, Zephaniah, and Nehemiah; her sister, Wendy Harcrow and husband Malcom, along with their children Cori, Kaci, Kelsi, and Kayla; and her beloved dogs, Shaw and Bexar.

The hole left by her absence is vast and will be felt every single day. Life will be less bright without her laughter, her presence, and her steady love. The ache is real and lasting. But we do not grieve without hope. The day we are reunited in glory is the day we cling to. Until then, we carry forward her legacy of fierce love, deep faith, joyful service, and a life fully surrendered to Christ.

Mimi is dancing. She is whole. She is home.
