Terry Wayne Carroll

November 24, 1948 — January 11, 2026

Belton

Terry Wayne Carroll, 77, of Belton passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home in Temple.

Rev. Carroll was born on November 24, 1948 in Anderson, Indiana to the now late Wayne and Ramona (Whisler) Carroll. He obtained his BA in vocal music in 1972. Terry enlisted in the United States Navy in 1975; he served proudly for over 6 years and was honorably discharged in 1981. While in naval training in Pensacola, Florida, Terry met Kathy Fogel at a church there, and they wed in October of 1976. He served on two destroyers during his enlistment and upon discharge, as he had always desired to live a life of service, Terry strongly felt that God was reminding him of his call to full-time church music and education ministry. He would often quote Romans 11:29 when sharing his personal testimony: “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” Terry would receive his Master of Church Music degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1983.

Terry’s church ministry was cut short when he received a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, and soon after, he began training for chaplaincy. Rev. Carroll worked as a chaplain at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in San Antonio, where his specialized ministries were in the areas of psychiatry and detoxification. Countless veterans were helped and guided by his warmth and wisdom.

Rev. Carroll was a man of quiet strength and dignity. He had an unfailing love for his family and friends, and foremost, love for and devotion to the Lord. His values were mined from the very depths of God’s Word.

Terry is survived by his wife, Kathy Carroll; his daughter, Holli Clements and her husband Josh; his son, Adam Carroll and his wife Ciarra; three grandchildren: Maya Clements, Elaina Carroll, and Emilia Carroll. Also surviving is one sister, Cathy Irwin and her husband Craig, and their family.
