Thomas Leonard Norton, 64, of Belton, TX, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and a little bit of trouble- just the way he liked it. Born on September 5, 1960, in Charleston, South Carolina, Thomas was the son of the late William Robert Norton and Frances Joyce (Aultman).
Thomas had a knack for mechanics and could fix just about anything with a motor- or at least convince you he could. He was a man who lived life on his own terms, with a mischievous grin and a twinkle in his eye that hinted he was always up to something. Whether pulling a harmless prank, sharing a harmless tale, or offering a helping hand, Thomas had a way of making people feel welcome, entertained, and loved.
He is survived by his son Tyler Robert Norton (Brandi) and grandchildren Lydian and Clare Norton of Temple, TX; his former wife and dear friend of 39 years, Leona Alene Marker-Welch of Porland, TX; his daughter Carrie Marie Sessions, grandchildren Chance Sessions (Ruben Saage) and Jase Harnish; Son Neal John Sessions (Hope), grandchildren Allic Reed (Shawn), CJ Sessions, and great-grandson John Reed- all of Portland, TX.
Thomas also leaves behind his sisters, Charlotte White of Corpus Christi and Valerie Norton of Wewahitchka, Florida; nieces, Celinda “Sissy” Orrell (Justan) and their children Caleb and Colby, and Karen Spencer (Nathan) and their children Lauryn, Kaitlyn, and Dillon, all of Corpus Christi.
He was a man of strong hands, a soft heart, and a playful spirit. He lived fully, loved deeply and left behind countless stories- many of which may or may not be entirely true.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to share a good story, play a harmless prank, or lend a helping hand to someone in need- just like Thomas would have.
