Virginia Estill

Virginia Jones Estill passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, in Bryan, Texas.

Virginia was born on July 5, 1928, in Houston to Charles Thomas Percy and Susie (Huebotter) Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Louis L. Estill, and her sister, Flora Ann Jones Miller.

After graduation from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, Virginia attended and graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor College with a BA. in Music and a teaching certificate in May 1949. She received a master’s degree from Baylor University in August 1973. While “studying” and attending college at MHBC, she met a hometown Belton boy who was the love of her life, Louis Estill. They were married in Belton on July 9, 1949. They remained in Belton where they lived, worked, and raised a family.

Virginia worked as a music teacher, an LLD teacher, speech therapist, and diagnostician. She was employed over the years, by Academy, Belton, and Temple school districts, retiring in 1987. Virginia used her musical talents teaching music, directing school and church choirs, and she loved playing the piano and organ for church services.

Two of her favorite pastimes were playing a lively game of 42 and playing Bingo. Virginia was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Belton, Taylor’s Valley Church in Temple, and Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton.

Virginia is survived by one favorite son, Louis Charles Estill and favorite daughter in law, Jennifer, Murphy, Texas, one favorite daughter, Janet Estill Galindo and favorite son in law Charles, College Station, Texas, two grandsons, Charles Galindo, Jr. and wife, Brooke, Austin, Texas, John R. Galindo, Carolina Beach, North Carolina, and one granddaughter, Katy Jo Estill Tarrant, and husband, Jacob Tarrant, Palmer, Illinois , three great grandchildren, Lawson Tarrant, Charlotte Galindo, and Bennett Galindo. Visitation will be at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, Sunday, August 30, 4:00-6:00pm. Graveside Services will be at North Belton Cemetery, Monday, August 31, 10:00am.
