Virginia Elizabeth Livingston

Virginia (Ginny) Makin Livingston, age 86, died peacefully on June 27, 2025 while surrounded by her family at Baylor Scott & White Hospital, Temple, TX. She was born to Virginia (Rock) and James E. Makin on March 22, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA. In 1958 she graduated from Plum Borough High School and started dating the love of her life and her husband of 63 years, Robert E. Livingston. She wed Robert on March 23, 1962, while he was completing his college education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, VA. In her career she worked as a medical transcriptionist, certified nursing aide, and assistant activities director at the King’s Daughters Hospital and Western Hills nursing facility. In her retirement she pursued her favorite pastimes of baking and crafting.

Virginia was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belton and served her community with charity, truth, and loving kindness as a 47-year member of Order of the Eastern Star. She was initiated on November 15, 1978 in Erie, PA. She proudly served in the Belton Chapter #589 where she was Worthy Matron in 1995-96 and 2010-11.

Virginia is survived by her husband Robert, four children; Robert J. (Krista) Livingston (Bellingham, WA), Roger J. (Pati) Livingston (Norfolk, VA), Richard J.(Lorelei) Livingston (Belton, TX) and Robin J. (Johnnie) Schilling (Belton, TX); and nine grandchildren; Nina Rubio Wright (Everett, WA), Christopher Livingston (Seattle, WA), Jessica Temte (Temple, TX), Nathaniel Livingston (Puyallup, WA), Lincoln Livingston (Norfolk, VA), Geoffrey Livingston (Minneapolis, MN), Amber Livingston (Norfolk, VA), Makin Schilling (Austin, TX), and Jamison Schilling (Austin, TX); and one great-grandchild, Claire; her sisters Sally Effting (Allentown, PA) and Marilyn Zavada (Pittsburgh, PA), and brother James E. Makin (Pittsburgh, PA). She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Makin.

Virginia’s family would like to thank her medical providers and acknowledge the exemplary and compassionate care she received from the nurses, therapists, chaplains, staff and physicians at the Ascension Medical Group, Temple Rehab Hospital, and Baylor Scott & White Hospital.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 till 8:00 PM, Friday evening, July 11, 2025 at Dossman Funeral Home, 2525 North Main Street, Belton, TX. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church of Belton at 10:00 AM with The Reverend Kathy Vineyard, H.R. officiating. Internment will follow at the North Belton Cemetery, 1500 N. Main St. Belton, Texas.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, Belton Chapter #589 Treasurer, PO Box 553, Salado, TX 76571, or the First Presbyterian Church of Belton, 2500 Church St, Belton, TX 76513 to further her legacy of kindness and community service.
