Wanda Wright, 78, of Belton, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at her home in Belton.

The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, October 16, 2023, at Dossman Funeral Home from 11:00am-12:30pm.  Private family services will be held.


Mrs. Wright was born December 11, 1944 in Belton, the daughter of T. A. and Willie Mae Phillips.  She grew up in the little village of Salado from the age of three until leaving home at the age of 18.  She attended Salado schools in the little "Red Brick School Building" from first grade through the 12th, graduating in 1963.  She then attended Temple Junior College.


Mrs. Wright married James Meredith Wright of Gatesville.  She was a long time member of Cedar Valley Baptist Church in Salado.


Mrs. Wright was a career woman, having worked most of her life as a legal assistant.  She worked for Bowmer, Courtney and Burleson law firm in Temple for 17 years as the personal secretary to Jim D. Bowmer.  She also worked for the District Attorney's Office of Bell County from 1994 to 2006, until she retired.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Meredith Wright on August 25, 2008.


Survivors include her son Gary Allen Wright; her daughter Pamela Denise Sellers; seven grandchildren, Joshua Allen Wright, Lindsey Paige Drake, Zachery Paul Wright, Victoria Marie Hancock, Mason James Sellers, Mikey Joe Sellers and Patsy Torres; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters; Wyanell Swaim and Iris Kendall.
