Waymona Jean (Ansay) Ambrose, “Jeannie”, 75, of Temple passed away on Sunday, February 1st , 2026, surrounded by her family at her home in Temple after a diagnosis of an aggressive cancer in December.

A visitation and funeral service for Jeannie will be held on Saturday,February 7, 2026, with visitation starting at 9:30am and services at 10am at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton.

Jeannie was born on June 14, 1950 in El Paso, Texas at Fort Bliss to Waymon O’Dell and Reba Jeanne (Jones) Smith. A “military brat”, she lived in Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, and other stations until settling in Morgan’s Point Resort at about 13 years old. She attended and graduated from Belton High School in 1968. She married John Ernest Ansay Sr., “Johnny”, of Morgan’s Point Resort, on August 18, 1967 and were married for 44 years until Johnny’s passing in May 2011. They were blessed with two children, Michael Allen and Stephen Matthew, with two daughters-in-law Juli and Arielle, respectively. In July 19, 2014, she married Ronald Ambrose, and they lived in Temple. This expanded her family with two additional step-daughters, Terri Raines and Bonnie Landon, and a step-son Billy Ambrose. She was the proud grandmother of 18 and great grandmother of 8.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her father and mother, first husband Johnny, and step-daughter Terri. She is survived by her loving husband Ronald Ambrose of Temple; son Michael Ansay and wife Juli of Alvarado, Texas; son Stephen Ansay and wife Arielle of West Chester, PA and step-children Bonnie Landon and husband Casey of Salado, and Billy Ambrose and wife Karrie of Houston.

She worked in the Belton school system, starting as a teacher’s aide and moving to the administration offices where she retired in 2009, after 27 years of service to the school system. Additionally, she was a director at Belton Federal Credit Union for 7 years. Jeannie was a strong woman, dedicated to family and always seeking ways to help those around her. She lived by the philosophy of her parents, “You can’t make it on your own – you have to have faith and family”.

Dossman Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of the arrangements.
